The Eyesey Baby Chronicles: Splashathon Fundraiser
It’s been almost a year and a half since the Eyesey Baby made an appearance.
Inevitably she has changed a lot since I last posted, every day in fact brings something new…
…she walks, she talks, she makes you laugh. She has 8 teeth, a head of hair, and loves to wiggle and jiggle to a good beat. She eats well when you read her a good book, The Gruffalo tends to be the favourite, and she’s in heaven when she splish splashes at bath time.
Rhymes and rhetoric aside though, we are trying to teach her from now, what it means to be a good person, to have empathy and compassion and to help those that are less fortunate than we are. Hubby and I grew up with these values, and if there is anything we need to pass on to her, it’s those things.
So, with that in mind, the Little One is undertaking her first fundraising event next Saturday 15th July.
She will be doing a “Splashathon” with her swimming class in full fancy dress, raising money for Tommy’s, a charity that funds vital research into pregnancy problems, and in turn, saving babies lives.
So what exactly does a Splashathon entail?? Well, she will dive into the pool with me, splish splash her way across the width to the other side and then hold on to the edge without support. The big question though, is pirate or princess… what should her fancy dress be? Ignoring stereotypes, there can be girl pirates right??
We have been practicing a lot, she knows how to kick, kick, kick, and she can swim underwater for a short while.
