Glasses, Spectacles & Eyewear
Your glasses (or spectacles) are made up of: frames + lenses and both are equally important.
Frames should complement the size, shape and dimensions of the face allowing the eyes to see see clearly.
Colours and styles complement the wearers sense of style, fashion, attitude, practicality and occasion.
At Eyesey Eyecare, we have a wide selection of standard and designer frames for men, women and children, to suit your style and needs.
Allow our experienced team to help you create the perfect look with the right glasses for you.
Complete your look with a pair of frames for each special occasion.
The lenses you have in your glasses are as important as the frames that hold them.
There are three main types of lenses that you could have to suit your prescription: single vision, bi-focal or varifocal lenses
Depending on your needs and preferences, we can provide a range of spectacle lenses – from standard plastic lenses, to high index, thinner, lighter lenses.
Plastic lenses are the most commonly used as they can be half the weight of glass lenses and also almost unbreakable, allowing comfort and safety. Plastic lenses are also easier to scratch and thicker than their equivalent, glass lenses.
Optional extras such as anti-glare coatings to help with VDUs and night driving, and special tints to help with the sun, light sensitivity, concentration or task-specific needs, can be added to suit your needs.
As part of your eye examination, we will advise you on the best options for you.
Sunglasses are a great fashion accessory, but their most important job is to protect your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. The harmful effects of the sun on the eyes include:
- Cataracts – a clouding of the eye’s lens that can blur vision. An estimated 20% of cases are caused by extended UV exposure
- Macular degeneration, resulting from damage to the retina that destroys central vision
- Pterygium – tissue growth over the white part of the surface of the eye that can alter the curve of the eyeball, causing astigmatism.
Beware of cheap imitations!
High quality, genuine sunglasses should do for the eyes what sun cream does for the skin – i.e. protect from damage.
Eyesey Eyecare offer a comprehensive range of designer sunglasses for men and women – from timeless, classic styles to retro and modern designs.
Eyesey Eyecare have a fantastic range of NHS and designer frames for children – and standard lenses are free under the NHS.
We also have an exclusive range sunglasses for babies and children by Bollé, Australian brand Baby Banz and Cebe that offer polarised lenses to reduce glare with 100% UVA and UVB protection.
