Do I really need an eye examination?
Let me flip that question around a little…
How much do you value your eyesight?
Try closing your eyes and doing some of your normal daily tasks…
How did you do?
Not easy is it?
Think of the workings of a camera – a very, very expensive camera. Add to it the skill, expertise and technology required to take a photo, capture it and then print.
Now, use that camera to capture an endless moving image, to judge speed and distance, to note colour changes and subtle movements with precision…
How much money are we looking at?
Now, imagine that we are born with the natural technology to do this (and then some!), with the skill and expertise developing as we grow.
Welcome to your eyes!
Instruments of the utmost precision – lots of components in exactly the right place, doing exactly the right thing at exactly the right time, in order that we can see.
As with all working things, however, there is the possibility that some parts of the eye may become slightly out of sync.
In other cases, you may not notice anything at all for example, with glaucoma, or a tumour, the effects of which – if untreated – can be detrimental.
Now, I’m not saying this is what will happen if you don’t have regular eye examinations! This was just a simple exercise to show the importance of eyesight.
Your eyesight is precious. It’s probably a good idea to preserve and protect it.
At Eyesey Eyecare, we recommend that you should typically have an eye examination every 2 years – even if you don’t think there is anything wrong. You may be advised to have them more regularly if you are very young or elderly, or if there are other factors involved.
Contrary to what many people believe, visiting the opticians for a check-up doesn’t always mean you will need glasses!
However, should you require a pair…
Eyesey Eyecare have a great selection of frames and lenses to choose from!
